Chavchavadze, TSU, II block ბ Department of Natural and Life Science, Sokhumi State University, 9, Politkovskaya The work deals with geographical and cartometric analysis of Aibga sector - one of the main problematic sectors of state border of Georgia. The research is based on cartographic sources of XIX-XX centuries. The difficulties are connected with two circumstances, such are absence of delimitated and demarcated sate border, location on the non-control territory - Abkhazeti (the upperstream of river Psou, Gagra district). The territory is debatable area between Russia and so-called Abkhazeti government. The main purpose of the study is determining the main factors of historical transformations of Aibga sector during the XIX-XX centuries, also realizing the equivalence between governmental resolutions and cartographic materials. Besides of cartographic sources, the study is based on the geographical, statistical, historical, territorial division, population census, and other types of data. Among the cartographical sources the historical (including the so-called "Verst maps"), topographical, Google Earth, forest management maps were used. The research object - village Aibga, is located on the both of banks of river Psou and is divides in 5 sections. Three sections are located on the side of Georgia and two sections - on the side of Russia. The whole area of settled territory occupies approximately 16 thousand hectares. On the base of research were revealed the main factors, determining the historical changes of state border of this sector. Among these factors are: the changes in the political situation during the XIX-XX centuries, incorrect interpretation of historical facts and documents, etc. Moreover, there are some misbalance between governmental resolutions and cartographical sources. The inhabitants of village Aibga of "Georgian part" and also, even village are not recorded in the materailas of territorial division and population census during many years. Thus, these sources and scientific works are not expressing the real situation.
